Speed training = reflex

The coach taught something about doing things fast and explains the reason behind it.
Reflex

something that is so simple yet people didn't realise it. By doing things that you know fast, actually conditions your body to it. As you do it WITHOUT thinking much -> you will need your body to react to it faster than you think about it.

Simple exercises like doing turnovers. You may think, how boring. or can't recall what to do about it..but WHAT IF, you do a turnover the minute you touch your partner or the moment your partner comes out of it and its your turn to it?

do you realise the SPEED and FAMILIARITY that is required of you to do it? and the thrill of doing it when done in good sporting spirit with your partner?

The coach had a good point. When your opponent or partner is in that position, you shouldn't be thinking too long on what to do as your will have missed your chance by then. It should just come naturally. Not just for groundwork, it applies for all other techniques (standing and groundwork)

So its doing every single exercise fast once you have the right position or right stance.
even small ones like push ups, situps, sprints. These train your muscles to be fast, so that you can be fast when you need to..

am sure this applies to not just judo but to all other sports.
being AWARE of what you are doing. Do it well, do it with a purpose.

Train, enjoy, rejoice

After weeks of training ( 1-2 times per week), the judo sense is getting back to me slowly..am amazed at the difference in training style. Western as compared to asian style. Both have their virtues and reasons for difference. It depends on what you are looking for:
  1. good conditioning?
  2. reflex?
  3. keep interest going?
  4. leisure?
  5. fit?
  6. etc
it was fun and my interest was boosted up.. it wasn't rekindled as it was always there but an extra boost was injected to make me look forward to each and every session..
There is something new, to learn or to recall. New challenges.. new goalpost to reach at each training or to achieve.

Nearly threw a young brown belter ippon. Thou my throw still has its flaws as it always had, the feeling was terrific. Almost like what I felt with my very first ippon as a white belter..

enjoying a sports or activity that you like is great, to be in-touch with something that ties you back to your roots, mak you feel slightly at home even when you are miles away from home..

Just Feel

Amazing what you seek may just be there, so near to you that you missed it as you are only looking out and afar..

When I meditate, I sometimes smell nice scents. What should I do?

Just note that there is smell. Don't think about whether the smell is pleasant or unpleasant, or where the smell is coming from.

What about sounds I hear? Are they ghosts?

Don't ask what, where, why or how these sounds are. Just note that you are hearing a sound. Let everything flow naturally. Once there is desire or forcing, you would have gained nothing in your practice. Wanting brings you back to zero.
